Sally Lightfoot crabs battle an incoming tide in the Galapagos Islands. Of all the extraordinary variety of wildlife found in 'Darwin's Enchanted Isles' it was these courageous crustaceans that caught my eye most. I loved the vivid contrast between their brightly coloured carapaces and the dark basalt rocks. In this image, I chose a slow shutter speed, sacrificing some sharpness (due to the crabs being jostled by waves) in order to create a sense of movement and jeopardy.
