These portraits show women that have experienced violence one way or another. Some women wished not to show their face which I respected. This series is part of of the larger project Violens.org with the writer Dirk Könnecke. We look out for people who have experienced violence. We interview and photograph them and finally we tell their story online. Much to our surprise it were mostly women in the role of the victim that came forward. The aim of our project Violens.org is to make the invisible past visible.
Martin’s artistic work focuses on portraiture, urban and street photography. He is a founding member of the Berlin1020 street photography collective.
Martin has won numerous international photography awards. His work has been shown in exhibitions in New York, Paris, Dublin, London, Rome, Bucharest and Berlin. His work can be found in numerous private collections.
