The “Tears” project focuses on portraying a subject formally, placing emphasis on tears.
At cultural level, portraits appear smiling or possibly serious and composed;
starting with this assumption I chose to use tears as a key element characterizing every image.
I want to focus attention on the pain of the portrayed women without explaining it.
I would like that people watching the portraits could feel empathy and care for the subjects.
Love is the answer in every situation and I hope people could think about it after watching my series.
Each image was taken respecting the aesthetic canon of the formal portrait:
photographed subjects in a standing position on decorated background.
Subjects were asked to choose the clothes most representing their being and to
assume a composite posture focusing on a particularly touching event of their life.
