I long for beauty and perfection within and without me. Perhaps the day will come when all my movements will be creation and birth, when I will break and ennoble all the shadows that exist within me. If powerful waves can rise up and drown self-doubt, self-consciousness and the the search for perfection, my painful immaturity will burst through my own being, and I can be whole.
To be strong and pure, brutal and misshapen. To be aware and to accept it all.
The meaning of Kalos Kagathos:
Kalos Kai Agathos (appearing more frequently in the apocopated form kalos kagathos) is, in a strict sense, “beautiful and good,” but a better rendering would be “fine and noble,” or “superior and excellent,” or even “the best that a man can be.” The phrase was used to refer to an ideal of life and behavior that every Greek cherished for himself, even if he could not embody it totally. The more elements of the ideal were realized in an individual, the more fully human that person was. If he had few or none of the elements, his life was essentially subhuman and not worth living.
About the pictures:
The original series have 12 pictures (6 for this contest) that tell a story of self discovery and the pursuit of perfection and self acceptance.
From a different professional background, I first graduated in International Relations with emphasis in Marketing and Business.
My first job was as an intern in the financial market and after that I got a trainee job in a Management Consulting Group, where I stayed for one year before going back to study on my first and second Masters: Finance and Third Sector Organizations.
My first photography course took place on my 4th semester during college. It was all about my perception and my own eye towards pictures. In this program I had my big first project, named 17 AUGUSTAS, with curatory by Claudia Jaguaribe, a famous Brazilian artist.
Nowadays I am living between Miami and São Paulo and working mostly on fine art projects.
