These images are a personal self-portrait journal.
throughout the past 4 years I have been dedicatedly working on a series of images reflecting the long journey towards healing, discovering, and creating my new self.
The images in the project reflect the discovery and recognition of a still partly repressed assault from mid youth years which was accompanied by a loss of memory from different phases and gaps which are undiscovered.
it is not an attempt to retrieve the events which are still buried deep in the subconscious but is a blend of a coping mechanism with a simple answer to an urge from deep within.
like our mood and the weather, each and every photo represents both the emotional and sensory state which I was in during that phase.
together the images form into a photo journal, comprises feelings, acts, and catharsis, from moments of confusion, depression, satisfaction, love, and more.
When looking separately on each image I aim for the viewer to be able to see a specific state in which i was, but when looking at the series as a whole the viewer can see the journey and context that leads from one state to another.
