Gyeongju was the capital of the ancient Korea, Silla, which developed a brilliant culture for thousand years. As the city is positioned as important in the study of East Asian ancient culture, the city areas were designated as World Heritage sites by UNESCO. There are many ancient tombs in the city, belonging to ancient monarchs and the royal family. Some of the tombs gather together while some are dispersed in different areas of the city. Smaller tombs are about 10 meters tall and bigger ones are taller than 20 meters. Even though the tombs look simple, each tomb has different contour that the scenery is never boring. When you walk into one of the tombs, the surreal ambience makes you feel as if you are in an extraterrestrial world. In the autumn of 2017, I captured the unique scenary in my photograph.
