Varga left Hungary when he was only 22, moving to London, where he was influenced by the vibrant art scene of the city. He studied history and geography but decided to explore a different career, one that would allow him to focus more on creating images and to become a visual storyteller. After living 4 years in London, he joined a cruise ship as a photographer in 2001. Sailing the seven seas and visiting exotic faraway places for 5 years was a life-changing experience for him. In the summer of 2005, he settled down in Norway and started working as a freelance photographer in Bergen.
In 2014, he moved to Spain with his family and started a Fine Art Photo Gallery in Altea. He indulged in the art of black and white photography, selling and exhibiting his fine art prints for a couple of years. After living 3 years in Costa Blanca, they decided to move back to Norway but Spain definitely made a very deep impression on him.
His photographs share an engaged sense of interactions between people and their environments. The images have a wonderful amount of personality, the structures of his scenes energize the eye and capture something that would easily go missed or overlooked. His passion for photography provides an incredible amount of human connection, and it’s clear that he cares deeply about the images that he is making.
Ragnar B. currently lives in Bergen, Norway.
