We were trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda on the search for the Nkuringo gorilla family. After four hours, our rangers were finally on their trail and we were soon in the company of eight gorillas, including this young baby. Led on its back it looked around, eyes full of curiosity, and for just one second its gaze focused on me. It was a fleeting moment that soon vanished as the youngster was carefully picked up by its mother and cradled against her chest for a snooze. A fleeting glance - blink and you'd have missed it.
