As a child growing up I hated change. I didn’t like throwing things away that carried special meaning to me or moving to new places. However, due to my father’s job my family moved often. As soon as I felt comfortable and made friends or enjoyed the place we lived in, we moved. This depressed me and made me feel nostalgic about the good memories I had formed.
When I moved to New York, I felt isolated and overwhelmed amidst of walking the crowded streets, and I wondered: do people recognize my existence. Thus I began to present my existence by sitting on a chair among the busy streets while blurring my face. And in the manner of self-portrait, I want to capture a sense of uncertainty and solitude as being a foreigner.
