In the eastern Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, lies a tight-knit community that resembles an extended family. With Troy Avenue to the west, Ralph Avenue to the east, Atlantic Avenue to the north, and Eastern Parkway to the south, gentrification slowly casts its shadow on this unique Brooklyn neighborhood. A snap shot of life within this vibrant community Ralph Avenue explores kinship and the meaning of place for a group of people who are defined by their strong sense of home and the city they belong to.

Nastassia Kantorowicz Torres is a Colombian freelance photographer whose work is centered around advancing human rights and tackling social injustices through visual communication. Being a migrant herself, she focuses on migrant rights, access to health care, women's rights and water access.
She recently completed a postgraduate certificate in Documentary Practive and Visual Journalism from the International Center of Photography in New York City, USA. She previously worked in development projects in Colombia and as a humanitarian aid worker in central Africa with Doctors Without Borders. She also holds a Master in Public Affairs from Sciences-Po Paris.
She is based between New York City, USA and Lille, France.
