Scarification is becoming increasingly rare in Africa. But Betammaribe people in north-western Benin are still very proud of their scarification. I had unique opportunity to witness traditional scarification ceremony held by Betamaribe tribe. Children at about age two years must endure this painfull and scary - looking event, but for Betammaribe tribe it is part of their culture and herritage.
