'The eternal woman' attempts at showing the elusive nature of portraiture. While some photographers believe that it is possible to capture the soul of a person through a photograph, in this series I intended to hint that identity changes through time and we are always evolving.

This series of pictures were taken when my sister, Claudia went out to the terrace, while I remained inside, taking photos. I wanted to take some photos of her through the glass, whose frosted baubles, superimposed over her face. I thought it would contrast nicely with the sharp details in the rest of the frame. Claudia saw me taking photos and, supposing it to be a classic portrait, she began fixing her hair and makeup. Needless to say, we both laughed when I showed her the result.

About author:

For my 60 birthday my husband gave me a second hand Nikon camera, and my daughter followed this up with a 5-day beginners' photography course. Suffice it to say that I was smitten: over the next week I embarked on a treasure hunt like the ones I used to love as a child--except in this one I collected stories and captured emotions with the click of my shutter. If I was in awe then at the possibility of interacting with the world in this new way, I am even more so now, four years later, at the age of 64.
