A mesopelagic copepod, Gaussia princeps, from the depth of 500m in the Pacific ocean. Even though this copepod is relatively abundant and cosmopolitan, it is rarely sighted by sea goers because of its deep habitat. This specimen was collected on a research vessel approximately 20 km from the coast of San Diego.
