I only had the one day at Bryce canyon and arrived hoping for great lighting. It was grey and raining all day but I hoped the clouds might break. With the sun about to set, I gave up hope and drove away. I hadn't gone far when I saw the sun break through the clouds in the rear-view mirror and create this double rainbow above the canyon. I rushed back and was able to enjoy this scene for a few minutes before the sun set.

About author:
Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.BACK TO GALLERY
