During 2016, I was working on a photography series named “Flowers of New York” (FONY). FONY is about the dichotomy reality-abstraction. With this work, I make a statement about the internal spatiality -the soul- and the relativity of the real image configured in our mind. FONY is a flower collection taken at the main botanical gardens of New York City: Central Park, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and The New York Botanical Garden, in the Bronx. This work is inspired by the concept of the becoming, originated in eastern ancient Greece by the philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus. The collection is composed of several images, revealing the ephemeral forms of reality captured in one instant. To get a more plastic expression, I worked with a Canon EOSD using manual techniques, exploring the natural light and the wind incidences. This image recreates light and wind as materials of expression to gather my meditations about the perception of existence. These images emerge from mind-bending nature microcosms, full of sensuality in forms, colors, and textures.
