The attached pictures are part of a larger series of painted photographs. Each photo has been printed and painted using acrylic colours, then photographed again. In some of them I’ve also used objects like a syringe, needle and thread.
In this project I wanted to talk about beauty. The discussion around beauty is so incredibly complex and can be discussed from so many point of views, and this time I decided to approach it ironically and very lightly. The series, called Make Me Beautiful, is a light hearted and playful representation of the process of liberation from the constant need of meet the current beauty standards.
Something about my formation: I grew up in Venice where I took my master degree in Art History. After too many different jobs in Italy I moved to London to do what I love, photography. But I had no money so I found a job in travel, I worked no stop for three years saving everything I could until I thought it was enough, so I resigned. This was about 6 months ago and since then I’ve been shooting and painting and mainly researching my personal style, the reasons behind it, what I want to say through my work.
I've been shooting and painting for all my life but only few months ago I’ve started dedicating myself only to this as I'm trying to make it also a profession and not only a passion, so I haven't exhibited anywhere, yet.
I have been featured in the August issue of ArtAscent (pp. 30-32), I've made the short list of the Lucie Foundation 2017 photo made scholarship, I’ve received honourable mentions in the Golden Orchid Photo Award 2017 and the ND Awards Photo Contest 2017.
