This image serves as a reminder to me that interesting moments can reveal themselves at any time. It was a clear blue sky kind of day and I only went out to photograph on this afternoon because the group I was with was very interested in photographing in and around this popular train trestle bridge in Fort Bragg, California. I brought my camera along thinking I could catch some nice reflections of Pudding Creek and the trestle, but my plans were completely changed when I noticed these amazing light beams. I fired off several shots and this image was an easy favorite. The experience proved to be very valuable as well as motivational. You just never know when hidden beauty will appear, but you should always be ready and open to it.

Some of my earliest memories were born in the big skies of Montana, in the rivers and creeks of the Sierras, and the beaches of the California coast. Exploring these ever changing and almost never ending landscapes has evolved into a lifelong pursuit.

The goal of my images is to not only evoke a sense of wonder, but also a sense of urgency. I want to inspire the viewer to connect or even re-connect with the natural world around them. Nature misses us, nature need us, and we need nature now more than ever. Wild lands are falling prey to development and the public lands meant to preserve our amazing natural treasures are grossly underfunded and in need of our help. My imagery is an attempt to spotlight these amazing places not only for their unsurpassed beauty, but also advocate for their preservation so that we may all enjoy their gifts for many years to come.
