" Caged Souls " is a 150 pages book, published by Editoriale Il Cittadino s.r.l. on July 2015 First Edition, commissioned by the Institute of Healthcare of Regione Lombardia, Milano , Italy.
The project is a research about the life condition of psychological unstable patients hospitalized for many decades in a mental clinic.
I have spent 3 days a week for about 8 months in the mental clinic ..at first with no camera simply trying to know them, to know their daily life.. ..looking, when possible , for a human contact...for a word .. afterword's when I felt was the right moment I start to take pictures even if emotionally has always been very hard and intense ...... using the language of Black and White that I believe , in this case , is the deepest message to help our imagination and over all the one that make us think more .
It would have been too simple to show their human suffer and desperate conditions.. the purpose of these images has never wanted to shock or to arouse compassion , exactly the opposite I " just " tried to give back respect, humanity and dignity to all the more 200 unlucky people I met in those months, who always given me so much ...... I will never ever forget.
I will always be thankful for the life lesson I learn from these unlucky people.
