The "chukudu" is an ingeniously designed means of transport. It is equivalent to the Yellow Cabs in New York and the Black Cab in London. This wooden scooter is the usual mean of transport for citizens of the lava-covered streets of Goma a city in the Easter part of Gongo very close to the amazing Virunga National Park. This Congolese cycle goes amazingly fast and can carry heavy loads - transporting a variety of goods. These wooden scooters don't pollute and they are something else to remember from this part of the world that was directly affected by the sequel to the 1994 genocide in neighboring Rwanda. I highly recommend a visit to Goma to anyone who is eager to experince the real part of Africa.
