'ICU/ Eye see you' is a self portrait made in my apartment in Brussels, after a row of sleepless nights. As a very introverted person I'm always looking inside, trying to find answers to the questions of life and ways of coping with them. In this way the 'looking in' can be seen as a sort of intensive care unit, where one searches treatment. The mirror is also a reference to the 'God ziet u' ('God sees you') signs one can find in religious Belgian families, where an eye is shown as the eye of God and therefor no evil should be done at this home. In general this photo represents self reflection, as I am both the one looking (and therefor judging) as well as the one being looked at.
