This is a series of photographs of an Ethiopian Orthodox priest at Abuna Yemeta Church high in the Gheralta Mountains in Tigray, Ethiopia. Access to the church is via a steep 1.5 hour climb that includes some near vertical climbing. The views from the top are stunning as well as the sunset. The church was built in the 13th century and maintains the original atmosphere, especially accompanied by the traditional priest who stays at the church all day. Truly a magical place.

About author:
I am a fine art wildlife and landscape amateur photographer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I am currently focusing a lot of my shooting on wildlife in Eastern Africa. I have always enjoyed nature and the outdoors but I find that photography immerses me more deeply in the experience. I will never look at the sky, clouds, weather, wildlife, colors and light the same way again. The details and different features of this incredible world we live in are so much more vivid and apparent as a photographer.BACK TO GALLERY
