Batad, as pictured, is a breathtaking mountain village accessible only by foot on winding hillside paths traversing miles of manmade rice terraces. Situated in the idyllic Cordillera Region in the North of Philippines' main island Luzon, the village is just one of many self-sustaining communities carved into the mountainside. I captured this image in mid-April shortly before harvest at the end of a two day trek through this stunning region. I particularly enjoy the burnt orange tones of the roofs offset against the lush vibrancy of the green rice paddies.
