Margate Solitude

This photo was taken in Margate, England on one of the coldest days of the year. I managed to stay out shooting for a few hours before my fingers turned numb. Except for my tea break, I never saw another soul! I was on my way back to the train station when I saw the reflection of these sea railings in a large pool of water. With the sea in the background, I thought it made a poignant composition. I used a long exposure to smooth the water and further simplify the scene. My hopeful intent was to create an image that conveys a solitary quality, much like my day.
