The Coastal Geometries series captured the abstract patterns of the aquaculture activities of Fujian province in the southeast coast of China. While bamboo rods are erected for multi-purposes such as growing shellfishes, drying seaweeds and hanging fishing nets, they form unique geometries unintentionally and turn the seascape into an array of minimalist graphics.

About author:

Tugo Cheng is a professional architect and photographer based in Hong Kong. His architectural background has trained his eyes to look into orders and rhythm in landscape and seek architecture in nature. With the objective to raise awareness of conservation he has focused particularly on China in the past decade capturing the cultural and natural wonders and published the book "Discovering China". Featured by local and international media, his work was auctioned in China for charity purpose and exhibited in Hong Kong and Europe.

Cheng has won major awards in photography including the National Geographic Photo Contest and Sony World Photography Awards, and was shortlisted in other international contests. He received his architectural and design education in the University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University and the University of Cambridge.
