Italian ocean solo sailor Federico Cuciuc competed in the 2015 Mini Transat that started on September 19 from Douarnenez (Brittany, France).
The Mini Transat is one of the most extreme sailing races. Every two years, since 1977, solo sailors cross the Atlantic Ocean on boats that are 6,5 meters (21’ 4”) long only. They spend no less than three weeks alone in the sea to sail 4000 nautical miles in two legs: 1300 from Douarnenez (Brittany, France) to Lanzarote (Canary Islands) and from there other 2700 to Point-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe). Fiftysix sailors reached the finish line in the Caribbean in the 2015 edition. Federico Cuciuc was the last one to arrive, with a time of 34 days and 13 hours.
