Set out on the Red Cedar Trail I decided to photograph the Candlelight Ski event that Menomonie, Wisconsin holds here in town. Right at the weeping wall, ice forms these beautiful icicles. The event coordinators set up these lights to illuminate the ice for cross country skiers to enjoy. The temperature for this shot was -9 with the windchill. I braved the elements and set up my composition as I played with lighting. I greeted skiers that passed by and patiently waited for a clearing to begin my panorama. Sitting next to the ice wall with the stars shining like diamonds in the sky, I listened to the river rush past as the steam flashed off the surface of the river from the cold air. It brought about a romantic mood to the scene.
