With the Northern Lights active and a clear sky and no moon in the night sky the conditions were perfect. I grabbed my gear and headed for a lake in northern Wisconsin. In a remote part of the state with almost no light pollution the lights commanded the northern sky.

I pulled up to my location and saw that the lights were so bright they stretched across the entire norther horizon. With such intensity they danced, shot up in pinnacles and pulsed with movement as the illumination and saturation of the colors grew in intensity and faded. I had never seen so much variation in color or movement from the northern lights in my life. It was such a complex structure.

I set up for a panorama with the dock extending out into the lake. To give you the feeling of wanting to step out onto the dock and experience the excitement, awe, and rush of the lights dancing in the northern sky. Moments like this is what I live for. Standing in solitude with nature at the end of the dock I was in complete awe. I knew this was a moment I would remember for the rest of my life.
