In today's world, the eyes and the soul are assaulted by a myriad of things, causing us to lose our focus, become scattered, and even blinded to the simple beauty hidden around us. Peter Dusek's toned black and white photographs give us a glimpse of this hidden beauty, a beauty hidden like a special shell amongst the pebbles on a beach. Inspired by the simplicity of Zen, Peter places a strong emphasis on balance and negative space and his artistic design goal is "as little as possible, as much as necessary", giving an almost abstract quality to his intimate landscapes. In this simplicity can be found the tranquility and perhaps even happiness that often eludes us.
Peter is represented by Abbozzo Gallery in Toronto, where he had his first solo exhibition, "Tranquility" in the spring of 2015. The exhibition sold out two and a quarter times over, and two complete sets of "Tranquility" hang at the two Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Toronto. His work has been shown at the Affordable Art Fair in New York City by Abbozzo Gallery, alongside 70 international galleries, and has been exhibited in numerous galleries and art shows, including Abbozzo Gallery, the Papermill Gallery at Todmorden Mills in Toronto, the Elora Arts Council's Insights Juried Art Exhibition at the Wellington County Museum, the Headwaters Arts Festival, the Headwaters Arts Gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre, the Durham Art Gallery, and the University of Guelph Desmond Art Show.
Peter is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists as well as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke, and the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).
