I took these images while hanging out a small plane over the West Australian coast. The area is known as the Useless Loop and here the shallow pools of crystal clear water are being evaporated in order to extract the highest grade sea salt. The density of salt in the pools and the depth of the water combine to provide textures and patterns on the sea floor, and are only visible from above. I found these pools to be incredibly intriguing examples of human interaction with our planet, although the landscape or seascape has been affected in a detrimental way it is still somehow very beautiful.
