I envisioned this project about a year ago while buying lamps for my home in Switzerland. I loved the old shades and could not throw them out, the had too much personality. I decided to make them hats and part of the identity to my subjects in each portrait. Within each photo, there is a point of enlightenment, something that changes you, that helps you see the world differently. To be enlightened is to be "lit up" with knowledge and information. I hope the view feels that sense of enlightenment looking at this body of work.
